Despite a Rosie Page-Smith brace Oxford City Nomads struck back to share the points in a 2-2 draw.
In a match that the Southern Region Women’s Football League management committee ordered to be replayed following Oxford City Nomads playing an unregistered player in the initial fixture played in December 2016, Woodley allowed a two goal lead to slip on a warm afternoon.
This was a much improved performance from that of the previous week and United will feel disappointed with not returning with all three points having been two goals ahead after fifty minutes.
From the kick off United started positively and playing a high back four line were able to force much of the play in the Nomads half. However, it was not until the thirty fifth minute that the scoring was opened when leading goal scorer Rosie Page-Smith scored from outside of the penalty area following a multi pass move.
This lead was not without moments of nervousness as Oxford were the doing of their own misfortunes when attacking with Ethne Rothery, Amy Chivers and Kiera Isaac being flagged off side on a number of occasions.
Page-Smith extended the lead on fifty minutes and the same player and May Hamblin both had opportunities to add to United’s tally before Gina Ianielllo exploited the visitors high defensive line to slot pass Nicole Haines with seventeen minutes remaining.
Woodley continued enjoy good possession but the game was levelled with two minutes remaining when the lively Isaac levelled when one on one with Haines. With the game in stoppage time Oxford forced a number of corners with the final one being cleared off the line in a melee that say the game end with Haines injured in her efforts to ensure Woodley took a point from the game.
United complete their season on Sunday 14th May with Alton Ladies the visitors when a win gives the home side an outside chance of finishing the season on a high in third position.
