With the Ladies enjoying the opening half hour, it was difficult to see them losing yet alone concede six goals.
The positive start twice saw Carla Stringer have strikes at goal while left back Holly Wilkins went agonisingly close when she made late runs at United free kicks, while May Hamlin narrowly failed to connect with an Ellen Surtees pass across the face of the goal area. In addition there were claims for a penalty but the free kick was awarded on the edge of the area.
Even when Alicia Povey opened the scoring on thirty five minutes there was no warning of what was to come but Gemma Najar’s lob on Bonnie Messitt two minutes before half time added to a Wycombe scoring a third eight minutes after the break put the game beyond the visitors. A fourth was conceded ten minutes later when Najar was allowed a free header from a corner.
Mollie Haines had an effort cleared of the goal line as Woodley regained their composure with Becky Lowes dangerous down the right flank. A change of formation to go three at the back enabled Woodley to play higher up the field and force the home keeper Rachel Thurston into a couple of good saves. However, this had the danger of being caught on the counter attack as proved the case with two more goals conceded in the last fifteen minutes.
