United go down to championship chasing Marlow

On an uneven pitch the first half was an even affair with the only goal of the first half going to Marlow’s Katie Hudson who scored from the edge of the penalty area on twenty six minutes when Sab Kulan’s back pass to Emily Sherwood was intercepted and despite a good block by Kate Hardie, Hudson reacted quickest.

Have time saw a double substitution with the introduction of Ellen Surtees and Olivia Hazel for the home team and it was Surtees who created the first chance of the half looking dangerous on the left flank. However, an innocuous cross saw Grainne McNally being allowed to head home despite the attention of two United defenders and Sherwood on forty eight minutes. This was extended five minutes later when Olivia hall fired home with United struggling to clear a corner kick.

Marlow completed their scoring on fifty seven minutes when Abi Ganvin beat Sherwood to the ball following another cross and did have a goal disallowed for off side on the hour.

The last half hour saw Woodley play good football creating several chances, notably Rosie Page-Smith seeing a shot well saved, Hazell being blocked and Surtees firing wide following good build up play.

The only home team goal came on seventy four minutes when a short corner by Surtees to Jess Grimmett, was crossed into the Marlow penalty area for Page-Smith to score her fifteenth goal of the season.
