A game of two halves
On a lovely sunny morning the boys were eager to start where they left off last week. And they did just that, within the first few minutes Jayden won a free kick just outside the box which hit the cross bar. However the first goal came when Sam attacked the goal and stuck the shot well, their keeper made a great save but Jayden was ready and took the rebound well.
However after this flurry of attacks things didn’t go so well. The whole team pushing too high up field, which yes lead to some brilliant saves from their goalie, but also left our goal exposed. Joe was being our last defender and goalie. He made some great saves from both long and near range shots and kept the team ahead at half time. The manager gave a stern talk asking the boys to be more aware and not all go for the same ball.
This seemed to work as Jayden scored soon after play started. Now the boys were playing with Matt attacking the goal from midfield. The keeper saved but pushed the ball out and Thady's supporting run led to a right foot, 3rd goal. Pushing forward, Tom surged up the field to find Jayden who finished well. The next goal was a goal scramble with Jayden shooting, saved, Tom shooting, saved, Sam shooting another save and eventually Jayden managed to beat the keeper. Another rebound off the keeper was the next goal with a Tom shot and Matt getting the rebound. The final goal was from a Tom corner which the keeper unfortunately tipped into the goal.
During the second half the team played much better and were more switched on. Effort award this week goes to Jayden for helping out the score line with lots of goals. Special mention to Joe for keeping the team in the game in the first half.
