Woodley Utd Spitfires drew 1-1 with rivals Woodley Wanderers Dynamite

Woodley Utd Spitfires and Woodley Wanderers Dynamite knew each other well with several ex-Spitfires players now in the Dynamite squad. Both teams have made slow starts to the season with only 1 win between them in their opening 4 games.

Spitfires welcomed back Dan H, Alex G & Jake D and were back up to full-strength. Both teams were looking to play passing football and the opening minutes were played out in midfield with both teams keep possession well without creating any goal scoring opportunities. Dynamite began to push forward and created a couple of early corners but couldn't find the target. At the other end Ben was working hard but was not able to find his way past the Dynamite defence. The deadlock was broken when former Spitfires player Charlie L was there to slot home after a corner was not cleared. 0-1. Spitfires began to get a grip on the game with Toby R keeping the ball well in midfield. Ethan B and Tristan R were working hard down the wings and nearly combined when Tristan R's deep cross was nearly met by Ethan B.

In the 2nd half, Spitfires came out strongly with Dynamite now playing on the counter-attack. Will J had to clear a couple of balls in behind the defence as the game began to open up. Spitfires equalised when Toby R and Alex G took a quick free-kick and the chance appeared to be wasted but the ball found it's way through to Will H who slotted past former keeper Finley N in goal. 1-1. Spitfires were now on top and were pressing Dynamite at the back. They soon took the lead when Tristan R won the ball on the right and raced forward and struck a sweet shot in off the cross-bar. 2-1. Dynamite began pushing more players forward looking for the equaliser but Will W was having a great game at left back with Will J always there as the last line of defence. With 2 minutes left, Dynamite won the ball on the right and the ball was pulled back to the edge of the box for a long shot which look comfortable for Will J but it somehow squeezed in to make the scores level 2-2.

Man of the Match was Will W for another solid game at left back
