This was a physical game but played largely in good spirit.
The first half started with Spitfires looking to play the better football and they took the lead on 12 minutes with Josh converting Sam's free-kick from the side of the penalty of the area. After that though, Back Garden started to get on top playing direct football with Spitfires struggling to match their arial game. Back Garden had several corners in that period and they looked dangerous but Spitfires managed to hold onto the lead. In fact, they were unlucky not to double their lead on 35 minutes when an own goal was very harshly ruled out by the Back Garden linesman.
Spitfires had the better of the second half but Back Garden equalised on 74 minutes after good work down the left, the header hit the bar and the defence failing to clear the ball. Spitfires had chances to reinstate the lead near the end as they piled on the pressure, most notably from Alex and Dan, but the game ended 1-1.
There were some excellent performances from Harry, Corin and Tom, with Tom picking up the man of the match award.
