This game was more tense than it needed to be. Spitfires took the lead on 11 minutes when Dylan followed up as the ball came off the bar from Sam's shot. For the majority of the first half Spitfires were the better side but didn't quite have the energy to put the game to bed.
The Lions came out for the second half much stronger and levelled with a long range shot into the corner 3 minutes in. Spitfires took the lead again though 5 minutes later when Sam finished well from Samien's through ball. The Lions were the better side for much of the half and it was surprise when they equalised again on 75 minutes, from a corner.
Then with the game coming to a close, there was the most bizarre of moments. First Trent was brought down in the penalty area, which the referee didn't give. The ball then broke to Dylan who was pushed over but as Sam pounced to score, the ref blew his whistle. No-one knew what was happened but the ref had given the goal. 3-2. The Lions players surrounded the ref wanting to know why he had blown his whistle before the ball was in the back of the net. Then a change of mind. It was a penalty - probably the right decision but an odd way to get there. The Lions were confident it wouldn't be scored having won the penalty shoot out last week, but Dylan took the penalty well and it was 3-2 again. The ref said 3 minutes left. The game finished that way after 12 minutes added time! Time when actually Spitfires should have added to the scoreline.
Man of the match was Jack whose last ditch tackles saved the lads a number of times in the second half.
