Woodley Spitfires rue missed chances
Strikes from Dylan and Samien not enough for all 3 points
Woodley Utd arrived to a bright and sunny Chalfont Park, perfect conditions for a match against their close rivals, Whiteknights Blues.
The game started briskly with both teams competing hard for control of the pitch. The midfield trio of Corin, Alex and Dylan combining well to challenge for the ball, close down the opposition and move the ball forward with some excellent link-up play. The persistence paid off as the Spitfires applied pressure in the Whiteknights area with the midfield linking well with Charlie, who started pulling strings and threading balls onto our running players. The team began to win corners and take strikes from distance on goal. The first clear cut opportunity fell to Robert at close range, forcing the Whiteknights keeper into an outstanding single hand save.
As the first half moved into the second phase and against the run of play, Whiteknights forced their way through the midfield, passing a tight ball into the Spitfires box. The Whiteknights striker kept strong and swept a low shot into the right hand corner past Ben. 1-0 to Whiteknights
The Spitfires responded brilliantly and within minutes Dylan ran down the right flank, moving to the edge of the area and smashing a brilliant shot into the top corner past the reach of the Whiteknights keeper! 1-1 Scoreline

After the match, the Ref said he thought the Spitfires were going to go out and smash the game and that’s very much the mood at this time.
The second half started with the Spitfires dominating possession in the Whiteknights half. Alex lofted a wonderful corner into the six yard box, made for Harry’s header which somehow inched past the right post, so close!

Whiteknights found themselves on the back foot and kept themselves going even though there wasn’t much to show for their effort. They were making a game of it and with about 15 minutes left to play found themselves through on goal with their striker lifting the ball up onto Ben’s hand and falling into the net. 2-2 Scoreline
