Spitfires beat Camberley
By Chris Squire
Samien, Robert and Alex on scoresheet
For the third game in a row, Spitfires went 1-0 down and came back to lead 2-1 but this time the 4th goal went to Spitfires to take the points with a 3-1 win.
Spitfires started marginally the better side but Camberley drew first blood from a free kick 25 yards out, lofting the ball over the Spitfires defence for their striker to pounce and score. There was then a heart in mouth moment when the ref awarded a penalty for Camberley only to correct his decision following a discussion with the linesman the ref correctly awarded a free kick to Spitfires.
Then, after a brief period of pressure from Camberley, Spitfires started to get on top in a scrappy half. In that period, Charlie had a shot from close range well saved by the Camberley keeper and then Samien's shot, straight at the keeper went through his legs to equalise for the Spitfires. In that period, Spitfires also had three corners and could have scored from all three but couldn't put the touch on target. So the half ended 1-1.
The second half starteded scrappily, as the first had been. The first real chance of the half came to Camberley who hit the post but that triggered an improvement in the Spitfires performance. Robert scored from inside the area on 65 minutes, passing the ball into the corner after the ball was well worked down the left. The Camberley keeper made a couple of good saves before Alex hit a sweet shot from 25 yards to beat the Camberley keeper and make it 3-1. Spitfires still had other chances but the game ended 3-1 to the Spitfires. Harry was man of the match after an imposing performance in midfield.
