A result that doesn't tell the story of the game which the Spitfires matched the high flying Hurricanes in all but goalscoring!
The Spitfires started well with some good possession football in the first 5 minutes but on 5 and 7 minutes, Hurricanes caught Spitfires on the break with their very pacey striker who finished brilliantly each time. For the rest of the half the game was fairly even. Both teams hit the bar - the Spitfires did so twice - but the half ended 2-0 to the Hurricanes.
In the second half, the Spitfires, playing downhill had the better of the possession but failed to create many chances of note. The Hurricanes had one or two break aways from their half but this time Russell and Jack were equal to the Hurricanes' striker. But with the game petering out, Hurricances scored twice in the last 5 minutes, making a flattering scorline but football is about scoring goals and the Hurricances striker was excellent on the day.
Well done Hurricanes but Spitfires can also take many positives with a positive performance.
Man of the match for Spitfires was Russell who was excellent snuffing out the Hurricanes breaks.
