This was a much needed confidence booster for Spitfires after a difficult first game of the season. Other than a period of 10 mins in the middle of the second half the boys played the better football and created multiple chances.
After plenty of chances to open the scoring in the first 20 minutes, Dylan slotted the ball into the corner on 29 when he found himself unmarked in the penalty area and ball falling to his feet. Samien then doubled the score 9 minutes later with a right footed shot from the edge of the area.
Half time 2-0 to Spitfires.
Spitfires scored 2 goals in the first 10 minutes of the second half, both from corners. The first saw Danny side foot home after a bit of a goal mouth scramble. The second saw Robert score with a header at the back post. That led to a period when Sandhurst got on top and they scored on 60 minutes through an unfortunate own goal by Corin.
Spitfires finished strongly though. Dylan scored when clean through; shooting straight at their keeper but it somehow went straight through him. Then Danny thundered in a shot from just inside the area following a poor clearance. Samien got the ball into the back of net in the final minute too but Charlie was ruled offside; whether he was interfering was debatable but a 6-1 win with all boys playing well was very satisfying.
Final score 6-1 and and Samien was man of the match for Spitfires.
