Woodley Town’s men’s section held their end of year presentation on 27th June 2015

Chairman Mark Rozzier, looked back over the club’s history which culminated with a first ever appearances in a FA completion in 2014 – 15 with two FA Vase ties, while looking forward to the challenge and opportunities presented with the amalgamation with Woodley Hammers and Woodley United Ladies to play under the Woodley United banner from the coming season.

Thanks were given to all those involved in the club during the season while recognising the invaluable support of sponsors

and the staff at the Inn of the Park for post-match food for the Reserve, “A” and “B” teams

Awards winners were:

1st team:

  • Manager’s Player of the Year – Dan Smith

Reserve team:

  • Manager’s Player of the Year – Conor Creegan
  • Player’s Player of the Year – Graham High

“A” team:

  • Manager’s Player of the Year – Sam Skehan
  • Player’s Player of the Year – Jamie Halsall

“B” Team:

  • Manager’s Player of the Year – Ben Ballard
  • Player’s Pappearances in total scoring 35 goals in seven seasons with the club. Played layer of the Year – Harry Turner

Annually the club makes special awards based on appearances with presentations being made to:

  • Richard Wallis – 100 appearances award: Has made 101 for all four men’s teams scoring at least once per season.
  • Conor Creegan – 100 appearances award: Has made 108 appearances in total and scored eight goals.
  • John Mailer - 300 appearances award: Has made 302 appearances for the club scoring 49 goals. John has played for every team, in every position including goal keeper since joining the club in 2002 – 03 season and has scored at least one goal per season.

Gordon Lee Memorial Trophy:

This is presented in recognition of services to the club and it was seen fitting to present this to John Mailer for how in addition to playing, was player / manager of the “A” team, has been the club’s secretary for a number of years while working hard on ensuring the club maintained its FA Charter Standard Development Club status while also contributing towards Woodley United’s new Charter Standard application.
