Games to be played 12-14 January

Last week was a good week for the United adult sides that played with all four picking up wins.

The first team got their second victory of the season against Wokingham & Emmbrook on Tuesday; avenging the 3-1 loss they suffered in the Subsidary Cup back in October. Two goals by Max Laschox gave Woodley a 2-0 lead going into the second half and despite the hosts pulling one back United held on. This was the first of three cup games for Woodley who host Chalvey Sports in the Bluefin Sports Supplementary Cup on Saturday before another home game, this time against Hellenic Premier League Ardley United in the Reading Senior Cup.

Well done to Jamie Williams who picked up his first win since taking over as Royals manager. After the scores were tied after extra time United went through to the next round of the Reading Invitation Junior Cup 5-4 on penalties. This week sees a tough game as they host leaders Cookham Dean in the league.

The ‘A’ team took their good form into the new year with a 2-1 win over Henley Town last weekend. That’s sixteen points from a possible eighteen and sees them within a point of top spot. They have a huge match at Hambledon who are four points behind but with a couple of games in hand.

Sunday Teams

The first team play their first game of 2019 on Sunday; visiting SC United. This is a meeting of the two bottom sides. Woodley are yet to pick up any points whilst their opponents have four from their seven fixtures. United will be hoping to cut the gap to a single point with three points.

The reserves racked up an incredible 9-0 away win last weekend. They currently sit seventh in an eleven team division. They are on the road again this week, playing Panthers F.C. Reserves who have lost ten out of twelve. Woodley won 8-2 in the home fixture.
