Games to be played 17-19 November

United’s First Team picked up four points over the last week, keeping their good run going. Going in at the break all square with Chinnor, Woodley put in a dominant performance in the second half to emerge from Oxfordshire with three points. On Monday evening United drew 3-3 with a Wallingford side who had won four on the bounce. A brace from Max Laschok and a Sam Guze penalty gave Woodley the lead going into injury time; only to be cruelly denied three points by a late equaliser. This week sees two more home games. On Saturday United play mid table Wokingham & Emmbrook in the league whilst on Monday they face Holyport in the Hellenic League Division ONE Subsidary Cup. Victory in their last cup game gave Woodley an outside chance of progressing from their group after losing their first three matches.

The Royals last picked up league points in late August. Since then, they have lost eight in a row. This week sees them away at Burghfield. The sides played very recently with United going down to narrow loss at the end of October.

A Tim Green double saw the ‘A’ team win at Goring United Reserves last week. The win means Woodley cement their position in mid table and open up a small gap between them and the teams below them. Their next game is at home against Berks County Rovers in the Reading Invitation Jubilee Cup. Rovers are in the league below but have started well; winning five from their opening seven.

Sunday Teams

The First Team are struggling in the league losing five out of five including a 7-4 defeat against Aydid in their last game. They will hope to get something from their Reading & District Sunday League Industrial Cup & Shield against Park Villa who play in the league under them.

The Reserves host Finchampstead Athletic Sunday Reserves this weekend. Finchampstead are three points better off than United but have played two more matches. Woodley have won every home game so far this season; scoring seventeen times in their three matches.
