Games to be played 28-29 October

A 1-0 win at Fairford meant the first team recorded back to back league victories for the first time at Step 5. Danny Horscroft's first half goal saw United up to twelfth in their maiden Hellenic Premier season. Forty eight hours later they knocked Abingdon United out of the BBFA Senior Cup on penalties after the tie had finished 1-1. Jake White got his first for the club to cancel out the visitors taking the lead on the hour. Woodley keeper Alex Reed pulled off numerous saves over the course of the game and also kept out Abingdon's third penalty.

Up next is a trip to Tuffley Rovers; the side that knocked United out of the FA Cup at the start of August. Woodley are two places and two points better off than Rovers.

After picking up seven points from three games the Royals suffered a heavy defeat a fortnight ago losing out 5-1 to Mortimer. This Saturday sees a trip to fifth place Wright & Unity Sports; one of four sides on eighteen points, eight adrift of leaders Woodcote Stoke Row. United are currently ninth.

The 'A' team host leaders Goring United. A Woodley win by two goals will see them go above Goring on goal difference.

The 'B' sides excellent start to the season continued last weekend with a big away win. That is ten points from a possible twelve for Rod Stevens team. Their next match is at Harchester Hawks Development who have lost five out of five.

Sunday Teams

Woodley lost out by the odd goal in seven last Sunday to early leaders Eldon Celtic. This week sees a home game in the Tilehurst Charity Cup against Richfield Rovers Reserves.

The Reserves bounced back from defeat two weeks ago running out 4-1 winners in their last game. They have a home match against Newbold College this weekend. Three points for United could see them go second, a fine achievement after promotion last season.
