Woodley Hammers Club History 1973-2015

This is the original Hammers team. It was raised by the late Brian Finch to play a team called Cranford Boys from the London Airport area as Brian worked at Heathrow. They called themselves the Hammers as most of them were wearing West Ham shirts as you can see. The purple shirts came about because they wanted a colour that would not clash with any one else as they did not have the money to buy another set - apparently the mothers picked the colour as it was the "in" colour at the time.

Information supplied by Dave Finch (ex Hammer).
